Silence ~ A Poem ~

She kept quiet due to fear,

Silence kept her safe.

Yet, her silence empowered her abuser-

The one who wanted

To destroy her.

In her spirit she kept-

Her hurt and brokenness.

She kept within her heart-

The evil acts done to her.

Silence was her friend.

But one day-

Tired of her life,

Tired of the evil before her,

She found courage to break her silence.

She stood facing her abuser,

The one out to destroy her.

And she shouted in loud voice,

"No More Silence!"

"No More Hurt!"

She pushed against the evil-

that had brought

such hurt and brokenness

into her life.

She broke the silence-

and the world heard her voice.

" No More Silence!"

" No More Hurt!"
