Narcissus and Domestic Violence

Narcissus, Narcissus and Domestic Violence

When I think of handsome, my mind goes to Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and for the fun of it lets add Idris Elba. Yet, when I read about the Greek god, Narcissus, I can’t help but wonder what he looked like.

Maybe you are wondering who is Narcissus?

In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a Greek god, the son of the river god, Cephissus. He was known for his beauty. In his own pride and arrogance, he was cursed by Nemesis the god of revenge.

Echo, the one who fell in love with Narcissus, desperately wanted his love and attention, but she never received it; as Narcissus was in love with his own reflection in a pool of water. Myth says, she withered away waiting for his love, but never received it.

Narcissus eventually killed himself as he was consumed by his own love.

A Narcissists – Do you know one?

So what does a narcissists look like?

They are loved by many, they are very social and charismatic, and have a strong personality. Yet, underneath they are very vulnerable. Without control they feel weak and humiliated. They are very attracted to people who are emotional and nurturing- those qualities they don’t have. They despise weakness and those who are weak in personality.

They are arrogant and rude. They enjoy belittling others and woe, to the one that awakens their rage!

Trying to love and please them is nearly impossible as it is never enough. They expect others to fill up their emptiness, but it’s impossible!

Woe, to the one who falls in love with a narcissist.

Please join me next week, as this article will continue with Echo and what does Narcissus and Echo have to do with domestic violence.
