The Empty Man

The Empty Man

He wondered desperately-

Going from one place to another,

Searching for a solution…

Something that would take the emptiness from his heart.

He had become an empty shell-

His soul void of the breath of life.

He searched desperately -

His spirit consumed with turmoil of sin.

Like the storm waves that come with full force-

There is no stopping them-

Nor its impact against the ocean rocks.

So, had his life become.

He looked around himself-

Surrounded he was with walls of pain and sin.

Why was he here? He questioned.

What was his purpose in life? Did he have one?

He had no hope in life-

He wished he was never born.

He laid on the floor-

He had given up-

He had given up on life.

When he heard it…

The precious voice of the One who had made him.

His sweet voice-

Full of compassion and peace.

Jesus knelt down by His beloved-

Holding him,

breathing hope- love - life!

The man stayed on the floor-

scared to move-

scared that all this beautiful peace would flee from his grasp.

He let His Creator’s voice breath life!

He let His Creator’s words heal his deep hurts-

His love washed over him.

Being held in Jesus’ embrace-

The walls crumbled.

No longer was he a broken man-

Without hope-

No longer was he in bondage to pain and sin.

Standing he was a new man.

A man filled with God-

The One who had made him-

The One who died for him-

The One who had rescued him.

Alive he was in God- His Creator.
